In recent years, the world of music licensing has changed dramatically not only for the traditional and online/digital media businesses that use music but also for the writers and recording artists that create it. This panel will discuss the changes, challenges and considerations that are a part of every music licensing negotiation with particular emphasis on the digital aspect of the deal. Areas covered include music use by the audio and audio-visual streaming services both subscription and free, apps, major studio and independent feature films, episodic television with its many online options, video game online streaming models including user generated content, digital consumer products and the role that legislation, litigation, performing rights organizations and other music collection and negotiation entities play in the music licensing process.
